5lbs. 15oz. 19.5 inches long
On Monday morning I had a Dr. apt. I was almost 38 weeks pregnant. I felt great! I had a million things running through my head around 4a.m. I got out of bed and made a (no joke) 3 page list of things that needed to get done before miss Talia came. I felt much better after making the list and went back to sleep. My appointment was at 9 so Blake and I woke up early and walked to the office.
The doctor checked me and then said "whoops" Blake and I looked at her and she said "well, either I broke your water or you have a high leak, because when I lifted the head water came out" I looked at her puzzled???? She then said... "looks like you are having a baby today!"
I was NOT prepared for this. What about my list???? I didnt have my bag packed! We didnt have the car seat in the car! On and on and on.....
We left the apt and headed home to pack. I was FRANTIC. I started throwing in snow suits and hats and stuff until Blake stopped me and told me I was CRAZY. It was 80 degrees outside and I was packing for a blizzard. We made it to the hospital and were checked in. They put me on some patosin to get my contractions started. The began to come every 10 minutes or so and I thought "This is easy." Then my water officially broke. I started laughing at the mess I had created and then I got another contraction. EVERY THING CHANGED! My pain level went from a 2 to a 12! I began to freak out and Blake was more than confused about the change. That is when I learned labor hurts a lot worse without your water. I had strong contractions until I finally asked for an epidural. The guy was amazing and whipped it out in a matter of minutes! My pain was COMPLETELY GONE!!! My Mom, Deb, and Sister were in the room waiting for her to be born. We watched Austin Powers and just chatted. I began to feel her head so I told the nurse. She checked me and said why dont we do some practice pushes before the Dr got there.
Well apparently I am PRO at pushing out babies. The first push the babies head popped out! The nurse freaked out and said I had to hold her in for a few minutes before the Dr. got there. Four more easy pushes and my beautiful baby girl was born!!!! Ten fingers and ten toes. What a perfect day!!!!!
